1) When did you begin working at ROAR Logistics and what made you want to work there? I began working at ROAR in March of 2018. I was working at my first job out of college and seeking a new career where I would be able to take on more responsibilities and grow through an organization. At the time, my friend Kyle let me know how great of a place ROAR was to work for and that I should apply. I went through the hiring process and quickly realized ROAR would be a great fit for me.
2) What is your job title and describe your position at ROAR Logistics: I am the East Coast team lead on Over the Road Truck operations. We work as an intermediary between our customers and our carriers to find, secure, and move our customers’ goods. As a lead, it is my responsibility to provide direction and guidance to achieve department goals.
3) How have you grown in your position / how do you hope to grow in the future? When I first started out at ROAR, I was a Logistics Coordinator. Over time, I became a Carrier Procurement Representative. I was in these roles for roughly two years.
After that, I moved over to the customer service team to expand my overall knowledge of the industry and was in that position for about a year. Since then, I have had multiple roles as a team lead and hope to continue to advance within the company.
4) Describe what it’s like working on a team at ROAR and how this has been beneficial to you: Being part of a team presents both challenges and rewards. It has significantly contributed to the development of my communication, problem-solving, and creative abilities, offering numerous benefits along the way. Every day brings on new challenges that must be identified and resolved quickly to best serve our customers and carriers.
5) What is the craziest challenge you’ve had to overcome on the job? When I first started at ROAR, there was a time where an associate was responsible for booking, tracking, and dealing with issues over the weekend. On one Sunday afternoon, I had just left the office and there was an issue at one of our shippers due to the product not being ready.
I had to let 12 carriers know that the loads were not going to be able to be loaded that day and most of them were at the shipper. This was very time consuming and overwhelming, as I was new to the company. I was then notified a short time later that about half of the product was available, so I had to find and secure trucks to service our customers’ needs.
This showed me early on in my ROAR career that it was imperative to be able to thrive in high stress situations and adapt to the ever-changing needs of our customers.
