1) When did you begin working at ROAR Logistics and what made you want to work
there?

I started working at ROAR in December 2019. I was at a job where I was under-appreciated and just very un-happy. A co-worker had told me about ROAR and how it was a great company. She said they were expanding their team, so I went online to see if there were any positions in my field, accounting. Turned out they had an Accounts Payable position open, so I applied. I had my interview and was so excited after hearing about the company’s ideals and values. I was told about how much they put the family values in the forefront and heard about the ways they give back to the community and was sold.  I accepted the job about 3 days later!

2) What is your job title and describe your position at ROAR Logistics :

I am an accounting specialist. I currently work on handling all the railroad payments. I help process the intermodal invoices and the OTR invoices as well. I also handle some financial closing tasks too! I tend to help out wherever is needed.

3) How have you grown in your position / how do you hope to grow in the future?

I feel that I have come so far from the first week working at ROAR. I’ve been able to learn a lot of tasks, such as the different billing processes the different modes of transportation have. I’ve also been able to learn so much about the logistic world. That’s what is great about ROAR, and the people I work with. They really help you understand the processes and procedures that you are performing and why you are doing what you are doing. I’m excited to continue to learn logistics and truly immerse myself in the world of Logistics. Technology is constantly changing and so is the world of logistics-we don’t let that stop us. We roll with the changes and evolve wherever we can! Logistics makes the world turn!

4) Describe what it’s like working on a team at ROAR and how this has been beneficial to you:

We don’t have a stuffy office where we must remain quiet at all parts of the day. We chat and communicate all day, it’s like going to work with friends and family. Everyone helps everyone with anything. It helps keep the job a bit less stressful and more manageable, knowing you can always can for help and it will be there for you. We’re never criticized for not knowing something which is great too.

5) What is the craziest challenge you’ve had to overcome on the job?

I can’t say anything too crazy has happened in the accounting department. I would say one of the biggest challenges was being sent to work from home during the pandemic. We had to make adjustments on a daily basis to keep our customers happy and continue the flow of business as usual, even if that meant being in 50 different homes around Buffalo. Now we are all back in the office and working together again like it never even happened.
