TRUMP TARIFFS SECTION 301 UPDATE

The Trump administration has announced three separate lists of additional tariffs to be levied against Chinese imports.  On Tuesday, July 10, 2018 the third list was released on $200 billion in Chinese goods.  This list contains 6,031 tariffs and a proposed 10% additional ad valorem duty rate, as “a result of China’s retaliation and failure to change its practices,” per Robert Lighthizer, U.S. Trade Representative.

The initial Section 301 investigation determined that the Chinese government had engaged in unreasonable or discriminatory activities that harm American intellectual property rights and technology.
